Town 3 - 4 Port Vale

After 1 game in the F.A Cup the run is over for the terriers. After such a succesful campaign last season as Town beat the ex Premiership side Birmingham it is all over this season after just 1 game. Town were today involved in a 4-3 F.A Cup thriller against Port Vale.

A lonely 6,942 turned up at the Galpharm even though smaller prices than usual. Gerry Murphy, the caretaker manager, was in charge for today's game.

The first goal came in the 28th minute for the visitors via Louis Dodds after he capatalizd on a mistake from Joe Skarz. But the Terriers hit back after 45minutes via Michael Collins who scored at Stamford Bridge last season. The teams went in at half time at 1 a piece, 1-1.

Then in the 51st minute Ian Craney placed Town into the lead after some pacient passing from the Terriers. Town then went 3 -1 up thanks from a Robbie Williams header in the 65th minute. Then Port Vale grabbed one back in the 79th minute through David Howland after a clever chip over Town keeper Matt Glennon. Then Port Vale pulled level in the 85th minute as Dodds got his second goal of the game and of the Cup. Then Marc Richards completed the Vale comeback after a fantstic last minute free kick that left Glennon with no chance.

Town's lineup looked like this:
Glennon
Goodwin
Clarke
Butler
Williams
Roberts
Craney
Collins
Skarz
Holdsworth
Jevons

Used subs:
Cadamarteri

Vale:
Anyon
Griffith
McCombe
Collins
McCrory
Dodds
Howland
Brammer
Richman
Edwards
Richards

Used Subs:
Glover
Stockley
Davidson

So already Town out of every cup that they started in but todays game was good value so hopefully Town can keep this scoring run going on but tighten up at the back soon.
